About the artist
Igor Goncharov's painting is a pleasure to the eye. Intricate line play, whether simplified or capricious, and colour from strictly noble gamma to rainbowed mosaic palette - all is a pleasure to the eye. But as often as not the alarm of loneliness is hidden by refined improvisation of colour, the sympathy and heaviness of life problems are behind irony of the subject. Combining alarming faint notes with decorativeness of his pictures the gifted painter is able to captivate onlookers into his fantastic and real world. And it does him credit. The spontaneous way of Goncharov's thinking is a characteristic feature of his art. His orientation to subconciousness doesn't at all exclude the relations to the reality. His being keen on many branches of the art has enabled Goncharov to have an original artistic manner.
